> dijitul developments gives UK businesses practical AI consultancy: finding where AI will save time or money, choosing the right tools or models, estimating running costs and keeping it inside UK GDPR. Because we also build AI systems, the advice is something you can actually deliver. Every engagement is a fixed-price quote after a free chat.

## Problems this solves

- The board wants an AI strategy and nobody knows where to start
- Staff already paste customer data into free chatbots
- Vendors pitch AI features in every renewal meeting and you cannot judge them
- A pilot impressed in a demo and then went nowhere
- You are unsure whether Copilot licences would pay for themselves
- Nobody has checked what your data protection obligations are when using AI

## Key facts

- Independent advice: we do not resell AI licences or take vendor commission
- Process-first: we map the work before recommending any tool
- Covers Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude business plans, and custom builds on model APIs
- Running cost estimates based on your real volumes, not vendor examples
- UK GDPR, data protection impact assessments and human oversight built into the plan
- Ends in a written, prioritised roadmap you can build with us or anyone else

## Advice from people who build it

Plenty of AI advice stops at slides. We are developers first: we build AI integrations, AI agents and document processing systems, so every recommendation we make has been tested against what it takes to build, run and support it. We do not resell licences, so we are just as happy to tell you an off-the-shelf tool will do as to propose a custom build.

The picture across the UK is uneven. The Office for National Statistics release *Artificial intelligence in UK businesses: 2023 to 2026*, published in July 2026, found that AI use has spread to more firms much faster than it has deepened inside them: many businesses use a tool or two, few use AI extensively. Consultancy is about closing that gap with a few uses that genuinely pay off.

## How we find where AI fits

We start with the work, not the technology. In short workshops with the people who do the job, we map processes that are high volume, repetitive, or slowed by reading and writing text: answering the same customer questions, keying data from PDFs, drafting quotes, summarising calls, searching old documents. For each one we estimate the hours involved, the cost of errors and how often it happens.

Then we apply a simple test. If the job follows fixed rules, ordinary workflow automation is cheaper and more reliable than AI. AI earns its place where the input is messy or unstructured: free text, scanned documents, varied emails. Many of the best results combine the two, with AI reading and classifying and plain code doing the rest.

## Buy, configure or build

For each use case we recommend one of three routes:

- **Buy and configure.** Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, or Claude for Work may cover general drafting, summarising and searching with little or no development. We check the licence terms, data handling and admin controls.
- **Use AI built into tools you have.** Your CRM, helpdesk or accounting software may already include AI features. Sometimes switching one on beats commissioning anything.
- **Build.** When the job needs your own data, your own rules or a connection between systems, we design a custom solution on model APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, or on Azure OpenAI for Microsoft-based estates, with a knowledge base where needed.

For each route we estimate running costs from your actual volumes: tokens per document, documents per month, licences per user. Those numbers often decide the answer.

## Data protection and risk

Any AI use involving personal data falls under UK GDPR. The Information Commissioner's Office publishes guidance on AI and data protection, and a data protection impact assessment is expected where processing is likely to be high risk. We screen each use case, check where data is processed and stored, whether a provider uses your inputs for training, and whether the contract and processor terms are suitable.

We also look at specific AI risks: wrong answers stated confidently, prompt injection through emails or documents, and decisions that should keep a person involved. If you trade in the EU, the EU AI Act's AI literacy duty for providers and deployers has applied since 2 February 2025, which affects how you train staff. Our AI training covers that.

## What you get

At the end you receive a written roadmap: the use cases worth doing, in order, with the route for each, an estimate of effort and running cost, risks and how to control them, and what to measure to prove it worked. If you want a deeper check of your data, systems and Microsoft 365 setup first, we offer a fixed-scope AI readiness audit. If you want to build, we quote the first phase at a fixed price. It sits alongside our wider technical consultancy. Book a free chat.

## Proving it worked

An AI project without a measure tends to drift. For every use case on the roadmap we define a baseline and a target before anything is built: minutes per document, first-response time on support emails, quotes produced per day, error rate on keyed data. We also define what failure looks like, such as a rise in corrections or complaints, so a pilot can be stopped early without argument.

Pilots run with a small group on real work for a fixed period, with output checked by a person. Only when the numbers hold up do we recommend rolling out further. That discipline is the difference between a demo that impressed the board and a system the team still uses a year later.

## What we deliver

- Workshops with the people who do the work, mapping where time goes
- A shortlist of AI use cases scored for value, effort and risk
- Buy-versus-build recommendations for each use case
- Running cost estimates for model usage and licences
- A data protection and risk review, including DPIA screening
- A phased roadmap with a fixed-price quote for the first build if wanted

Technologies: Microsoft 365 Copilot, OpenAI API, Anthropic Claude API, Google Gemini API, Azure OpenAI, pgvector

## FAQs

### What does an AI consultant actually do?

An AI consultant works out where AI will genuinely save time or money in your business, which tools or models suit each job, what they will cost to run and how to manage the risks. dijitul ends every engagement with a written, prioritised roadmap you can act on.

### Do you sell AI software licences?

No. dijitul does not resell licences or take commission from AI vendors, so we can recommend Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, a feature already in your CRM, or a custom build purely on what suits the job.

### Is AI always the answer?

No. If a task follows fixed rules, ordinary workflow automation is usually cheaper and more reliable. dijitul recommends AI where inputs are messy or unstructured, such as free-text emails and scanned documents, and often combines both approaches.

### How do you handle data protection?

dijitul screens each AI use case against UK GDPR, checks where data is processed, whether providers train on your inputs and whether contracts are suitable, and flags where a data protection impact assessment is needed, following ICO guidance on AI.

### Can you build what you recommend?

Yes. dijitul builds AI integrations, agents, document processing and knowledge bases. The roadmap is yours either way: you can build with us at a fixed price, with your own team or with another supplier.

### How is AI consultancy priced?

dijitul agrees the scope, such as the number of workshops and processes to review, then gives a fixed-price quote after a free chat. You know the full cost before any work starts, with no open-ended hourly bills.
